One of the main reasons that motivated me to join OWNDAYS was the opportunity for me to enhance my skills. Compared to other optical shops, OWNDAYS gives us the opportunity to experience the entire retail process, from serving customers, doing eye checks, edging lenses to dispensing completed glasses to the customers. OWNDAYS also adopts an open store concept which enables us to have the first-hand experience of serving customers and interacting with them.

Serving customers with empathy

My current job scope is to assist in daily operations and to ensure things go smoothly in the shop. I work closely with the shop manager and my colleagues to offer the best services and products to our customers.

I think one of the most important aspects of being an optician or any position in the company is to have empathy. This is because having empathy would enable us to understand and relate to customers better. To me, it is very rewarding to be able to help customers rectify their eyewear issues and seeing that they are happy with the products and services that we offer.

Numerous opportunities for growth

OWNDAYS is an open door for opportunities because everyone is given the guidance and the chance to be better and to enhance his/her skills. At the same time, everyone is given equal opportunity to take on any position in OWNDAYS. For me, my next challenge is to be a shop manager one day. I feel that it’s a challenge that forces me to step out of my comfort zone and to be better as a leader in OWNDAYS.
