Company Trip to Thailand

14 – 17 October 2019

The second half-yearly company trip of 2019 took place in mid-October at Thailand, the Land of A Thousand Smiles. There were altogether 18 participants on the trip, made up of staff who had shown good attendance in the previous six-month period.

Day 1

We met up at Changi Airport Terminal 2 at 6:00am for our flight to Bangkok. Upon arriving at 9:50am, we were greeted by our friendly and pretty tour guide who had arranged a coach to send us to Indra Regent Hotel. When we arrived at the hotel, we were delighted to find that it was situated within walking distance from famous shopping malls such as Siam Paragon, Central World, The Palladium World Shopping Mall and Neon Night Market. We were right in the shopping heaven of central Bangkok!

After checking in to the hotel, we headed to Central World for lunch. We then visited the OWNDAYS outlets at Central World and Gaysorn Village. It was an enriching experience as we were able to learn the difference between the OWNDAYS shops in Singapore and Thailand. Besides, we also checked out our sister brand, Seven Days Optic, at The Market Bangkok. Our last stop on this shop tour was the OWNDAYS head office in Thailand where we received a warm welcome from Evan, the General Manager of OWNDAYS Thailand.

We ended the day with some shopping and a delicious dinner at one of the famous Thai seafood restaurants.

Day 2

We visited Wat Arun, also known as Temple of Dawn, in the morning. Situated on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, Wat Arun is a Buddhist temple that is regarded as one of the most well-known landmarks of Thailand. It boasts a unique architecture that is quite unlike the other temples in Bangkok. In fact, we were so intrigued by the spectacular architecture that we took photos at almost every angle of the temple.

After visiting Wat Arun, we hopped on a private long-tail boat and enjoyed a relaxing river tour along Chao Phraya River. Before heading back to our hotel to get ready for OWNDAYS Thailand’s D&D in the evening, we stopped by the famous Erawan Shrine where many devotees were paying respect to the four-faced Buddha housed there.

Since our trip coincided with OWNDAYS Thailand’s D&D, we were invited to attend the event. The theme was “Neon” and everyone came in bright, neon-coloured outfits. There was even an artist at the reception area who was putting on neon-coloured face painting on the guests. It was a very fun D&D and we were impressed by the high level of energy exhibited by the Thai staff. We had enjoyed the event very much and were very thankful to the Thai staff for their warm hospitality!

Day 3

We left for Pattaya after having breakfast at the hotel. It took us approximately three hours to get there by coach, including a stopover at a Thai restaurant to have lunch. We headed straight to the beach once we got to Pattaya. Set against a backdrop of clear blue sky decorated with cotton-candy-like clouds and complete with soft white sand and sparkling reflection dancing off the sea which was in a beautiful shade of blue, the view was simply mesmerising! While we chilled on the beach, a few of us went for parasailing where they were treated to a panoramic view of the Pattaya bay area.

After the physical activities at the beach, we went for Thai massage to recuperate. There was nothing more relaxing and soothing than Thai massage treatments. In fact, our trip would not be complete without a visit to a Thai massage establishment! After dinner, we checked out the night market near the beach and bought some local products as souvenirs for our family and friends back home.

Day 4

It was time to go home. We had a buffet lunch before heading to the airport to catch our flight home. We returned home to Singapore with our luggage filled with goodies from Thailand and our hearts filled with precious memories.

It had been a wonderful trip to Thailand and we are now fully recharged and ready to get back to work. Thank you OWNDAYS for this unforgettable and lovely experience!
