Company Trip to Kenting

13 May 2019 – 16 May 2019

The destination for the first company trip of the year was Kenting, a popular beach getaway in Taiwan. A total of 24 staff, including the 7 award winners of the OWNDAYS SUMMIT 2019 IN SINGAPORE, joined in the 4-day-3-night trip.

Day 1

Our flight departed for Kaohsiung at 6 a.m. from Terminal 2 of the Singapore Changi Airport. It was 10 a.m. when we arrived at the Kaohsiung International Airport. We then took a coach from the airport to Kenting. It was a two-and-a-half-hour journey to get to our hotel and we passed time by singing karaoke in the coach while enjoying the scenic view along the way.

We had lunch at a nearby seafood restaurant upon arriving at the hotel. As we were all famished after a long journey, we devoured the food quickly and proceeded to check in to our rooms. The rooms were cosy and spacious and furnished in fresh shades of lime and orange that added to a summery vibe.

Our itinerary for the afternoon was to visit Baisha Beach and we rented scooters to get there. It was a more convenient way to get around Kenting and was also a great fun riding among the greenery. We had a great time relaxing at Baisha Beach which was said to be one of the 5 most beautiful beaches in Kenting. We ended the day with a sumptuous steamboat dinner and a visit to the exciting Kenting Street Night Market.

Day 2

After breakfast, we headed to the Cape Eluanbi, also known as the southernmost point of Taiwan. We took many photos at the landmark from which we could look across the sea and unto the far horizon. It was a mesmerizing sight that made us appreciate the beauty of Mother Earth from the bottom of our hearts. Next, we visited Longpan Park, an open grassland situated within the Kenting National Park which offered break-taking views of the ocean complete with the cliffs, surrounding mountains and greeneries.

After immersing in the beauty of the land, we decided to go explore underwater via a semi-submarine. The semi-submarine we took was basically an ocean cruise with underwater decks that had round-shaped windows similar to those found in submarines. It allowed us to get close to underwater marine life without getting wet.

We then went for lunch at a seafood restaurant. With Kenting being surrounded by the oceans, the seafood there was very fresh. We enjoyed the lunch a lot, especially the salmon sashimi and the seafood soup.

There was a series of outdoor sports activities lined up for us in the afternoon. It included ATV rides, zip lining and go-kart racing. Although tiring, we had a lot of fun trying out these activities that were mostly not available in Singapore.

Day 3

We were scheduled to spend the day doing water sports. To our dismay, it was raining cats and dogs when we woke up. The rain eventually stopped after we had our lunch. We then rode scooters to South Bay Beach. After the morning shower, the brilliant rays of the sun shone brilliantly across the clear blue sky. It was the perfect weather for a day at the beach. Besides playing in the sand and the water, we also rode banana boat, donut float and various types of inflated boats which were all thrilling and fun at the same time. By evening, our faces were all radiating a sun-kissed glow.

Day 4

Being our final day in Taiwan, we decided to skip the hotel breakfast and headed out for traditional Taiwanese breakfast instead. We ate the famous Taiwanese pork rice and scallion pancakes. It was probably the most delicious breakfast we had had on the trip!

We spent the rest of the time riding around in scooters and trying to take it as much scenery as we could. It was nice and relaxing to feel the warm breeze brush against our skin as we rode by in the scooters. After lunch, we headed to the airport to catch our flight home.

It had been a terrific trip to Kenting. Although packed with activities, we were able to take our minds off work to recharge fully. Overall, the trip was the perfect example of our “work hard, play hard” approach to work and life. Thank you OWNDAYS for giving us the opportunity to strengthen the bonds among the colleagues and to create memories that we would always cherish!
